The Surprise Attack of Jabba The Puppett by Tom Angleberger
This is the fourth book in the Origami Yoda series. The sketches bordering the text on each page are still as hilarious as ever! This time, the gang of friends are taking on their principal. The group is trying to lead a revolution within their student body to put a stop to boring programs and overdone standardized testing. In the past three books I never felt like you had to have read the Star Wars books or have watched the Star Wars movies to keep up with all the references, but I think it's different this time around. I have only watched the original three Star Wars movie from my childhood. The book makes references to the last three movies that were produced and I'm not sure if all the references this time might be more distracting to the reader if they're not familiar with Star Wars. As a teacher, I loved how passionate these kids were to influence change in their school. Their wit and sarcasm throughout the book will make you laugh out loud! If you're looking for a light comedy, give it a try!

Drama by Raina Telgemeier
Here is the second graphic novel (the first one being Smile) by author Raina Telgemeier. Unlike her first book that was autobiographical, this story is realistic-fiction. The setting is a middle school putting on the annual play with Callie as the main character, who is also in charge of the play's set design. I loved the bright and colorfully illustrated story that covers all the topics that many middle school students come face-to-face with: crushes, heartbreak, identity, self-esteem, and of course DRAMA. Funny, touching, and even a couple of twists thrown in, this is a very fast and entertaining story that all types of readers would enjoy.
The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee: An Origami Yoda Book
by Tom Angleberger
This is the third book in the Origami Yoda Series and I'm happy to say that the book ends with an enormous cliff hanger, for sure hinting that a fourth book is to come! I've enjoyed all three books in this series due to the fact that they always make me laugh out loud. If you're looking for a book that will put you in a great mood, then start reading this series! From the witty dialogue, to the hilarious doodles/sketches throughout the book, the author captures a very believable middle school voice among all of his diverse characters. As an extra bonus, origami instructions for the wookiee are also included. Don't worry if you don't have much Star Wars background knowledge; you don't need it to enjoy the humor packed within the story-line. Enjoy!
